Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced that its forces have attacked US military bases in Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This strike was in response to a wave of military attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran on Saturday, 28 February.

In its statement, as quoted by the Tasnim news agency and reported by AFP on Saturday, 28 February 2026, the IRGC said that a barrage of missiles and drones had struck US bases in the region, including the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.

The IRGC also stated that attacks were launched against targets within Israeli territory.

“The IRGC’s missiles and drones have struck the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and other American bases in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, as well as military and security centres in the heart of the occupied region (Israel), with decisive blows,” the IRGC said in its statement.

The IRGC’s statement came after media reports described a series of explosions shaking several Gulf Arab nations hosting US military bases on Saturday, 28 February. From Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar, to Kuwait, all reported explosions following US and Israeli attacks on Iran.

The Middle Eastern situation has intensified following a series of US and Israeli airstrikes that struck the Iranian capital of Tehran and several other regions in Iran on Saturday, 28 February morning. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) described the strike as a “preliminary attack” that targeted “dozens of military targets” within Iranian territory.

Israeli military stated that this operation was part of a “comprehensive, coordinated, and integrated joint operation” with the United States in combating the Tehran regime.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry, in its statement, affirmed it would “respond firmly” to the attacks. Tehran stated there would be “no red lines” in its retaliation, with the United States and Israel warned to prepare.

“Our response will be overt, and there are no red lines… All American and Israeli assets and interests in the Middle East have become legitimate targets,” a senior Iranian official told Al Jazeera, as reported by The Guardian.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, 28 February, Israeli military detected a number of missiles launched from Iran towards Israeli territory. These Iranian missile strikes activated air raid warning sirens across several regions of Israel, with local residents urged to seek shelter.
