Iran's Retaliatory Strikes Capable of Troubling US Military, Here's the Evidence
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Wednesday (22/7) to have attacked two bases in Jordan in retaliation for US strikes. According to the IRGC, the attacks damaged helicopters and destroyed a number of unmanned aircraft.
“In the first stage of the retaliatory operation, missile and drone strikes against King Faisal Base and Prince Hassan Base in Jordan have damaged the maintenance hangar for F-15 fighter jets,” the IRGC said in a statement.
“In addition, a drone preparation hangar was destroyed, eight MQ-9 drones were completely destroyed, while two others at the location suffered severe damage,” the statement added.
The IRGC also claimed to have damaged two US helicopters and attacked a military personnel centre, resulting in casualties. On the night before 18 June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum to guarantee an end to the conflict that began on 28 February.
However, since 8 July, US forces have carried out a series of attacks against Iran. US Central Command claimed the strikes were in retaliation for Iran’s actions against commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian forces then responded by attacking US bases in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump subsequently stated that the ceasefire between the US and Iran was no longer in effect. (Ant/P-3)
