Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran, on Monday (6/4), warned of a retaliatory strike that would be far more destructive and extensive if their civilian targets are attacked again. “If attacks on civilian targets recur, the subsequent phases of our offensive and retaliatory operations will be far more destructive and widespread,” said a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters. Previously, US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. In another development, Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, warned on Sunday (5/4) that resistance fronts could target the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. “If the White House intends to repeat its foolish mistake, they will soon realise that global energy and trade flows can be disrupted with just one signal,” Velayati stated via social media, implying the possibility of closing that waterway. Connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a major chokepoint for shipping between the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea.
