Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran’s Joint Chiefs of Staff have again warned all parties to comply with maritime traffic regulations in the Strait of Hormuz, while affirming that the Islamic Republic of Iran has full authority over the strategic waterway.

In a statement on Saturday (30 May), Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated that all commercial vessels, oil tankers, and other ships must use designated shipping routes and adhere to applicable guidelines when passing through the strait.

The headquarters, responsible for planning, coordination, and deployment of Iran’s armed forces, stressed that all vessels must obtain prior permission from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGC Navy) before transiting the waters.

The statement also underscored that failure to comply with regulations could seriously endanger maritime safety and security in the region.

Iran, which maintains full control over the waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman, has repeatedly stated that the regulatory measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of passing vessels.

Tehran also asserted it will not tolerate any aggressive actions that disrupt the management of the Strait of Hormuz, which lies off the coasts of Iran and Oman.
