Iran's Internet Completely Paralysed Following US-Israeli Airstrikes, Only 4 Per Cent Remaining
Internet access in Iran experienced near-total paralysis on Saturday, 28 February 2026, occurring within moments of combined military airstrikes launched by the United States and Israel across various regions of the country.
Global internet monitoring agency NetBlocks has confirmed the occurrence of a near-comprehensive national internet disconnection. Based on current data, internet connectivity levels in Iran have plummeted to merely 4 per cent of normal capacity.
The network paralysis has effectively isolated Iran from the outside world and severed the flow of information from within the country.
Experts have identified a close connection between physical explosions on the ground and the loss of signals on mobile devices.
Prior to the total internet blackout, several official Iranian state news agencies, including IRNA and ISNA, were reported to have experienced high-level cyber attacks.
These major news websites suddenly collapsed and became inaccessible, which is widely suspected to be part of an electronic warfare strategy to cripple the regime’s propaganda communication channels.
As of publication, there have been no signs of internet network recovery in Iran.
Most of the population has reportedly lost all communication access, whilst the international community continues to monitor the physical damage and casualties resulting from the ongoing joint military operation.
The missile and fighter aircraft strikes targeted various strategic infrastructures, including arms depots, military bases, and Iranian nuclear development facilities.
Severe explosions were reported in the capital Tehran, specifically in the Jomhouri area and the vicinity surrounding the office of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
US President Donald Trump affirmed that the strike was a preventive measure to eliminate Iran’s nuclear threat, which he assessed has reached a stage of endangering global security.
In his official statement, Trump also urged the Iranian people to immediately seize control of their own government.
