Iran's Foreign Minister warns that any country supporting the US attack will be a legitimate target for retaliation
Indonesia suspended discussions on the Peace Council. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi warned that any country that supports the United States’ aggression against Iran would be regarded as a legitimate target for retaliation. In an interview, Takht-Ravanchi stressed that Iran is ready to respond to any parties involved in the attack on the country. ‘If there is a country that joins with the United States and Israel in the aggression against Iran, they will also be a legitimate target for Iran’s retaliation,’ he said. He added that Iran has issued warnings to several European countries and others to be cautious and not to involve themselves in the military conflict. At the same time, Takht-Ravanchi stated that Iran is not attempting to negotiate with the United States because the Washington government is deemed entirely untrustworthy. ‘No, we do not trust America, the US administration. Because they betray, not only betraying us, but betraying diplomacy,’ he said. According to him, Iran is currently only seeking to defend itself after becoming a target. ‘We are in the process of negotiations when they began attacking us. We are defending ourselves,’ he added. Takht-Ravanchi also referred to talks held recently in Geneva, which he said actually showed positive developments. However, he judged that the United States then changed its position, causing the diplomatic path to resolution to be missed. The Iranian diplomat described that move as a failure to capitalise on the opportunity for dialogue.
