Teheran’s ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, delivered a strong statement regarding the military aggression by the United States and Israel that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. He asserted that the allegations of developing nuclear weapons attributed to the late leader are simply fabrications.

In a Petition Signing and Joint Prayer event at his residence in Jakarta, on Thursday (5/3), Ambassador Boroujerdi revealed a major contradiction between the enemy’s accusations and the religious legal ruling (fatwa) issued by Khamenei.

According to Boroujerdi, the international community should know that Ali Khamenei has long prohibited the possession of weapons of mass destruction through religious sanction.

“The enemies killed our great leader by alleging that he was attempting to develop nuclear weapons. This occurred while he (Ali Khamenei) had issued a fatwa that various forms of storage, production, and use of nuclear weapons are haram by his fatwa,” Boroujerdi said, quoted by Antara, on Thursday (5/3).

He also emphasised that all nuclear activities in his country are transparent and under tight supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Boroujerdi noted that the aggression on Saturday (28/2) targeted very specific objectives from the first minute, which he said proves the real intent behind the attack.

“They (the US and Israel) are simply seeking pretexts and reasons to attack Iran; and when attacking Iran, the two primary targets in the early moments of the attack were chosen. The first is the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the second is a girls’ elementary school,” he said.

The Iranian diplomat recalled Ali Khamenei (86) as a leader who has devoted his life to fighting extremism and violent hegemony. In Boroujerdi’s view, Khamenei is a steadfast fighter against “state-based terrorism”.

One key point highlighted was Khamenei’s uncompromising stance toward the leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu.

“He is a leader who has never smiled at the Zionist regime of Israel. He believes that if Muslims want to be a great and noble nation, they must continue to take a firm stand against Zionism,” Boroujerdi said firmly.

Israel has carried out attacks on Iran, which was the second such attack by Israel and the United States, following the first attack on Iran in June 2025.

US President Donald Trump stated that his forces launched a large military operation in Iran to protect their people, eliminating the threat he claimed stemmed from alleged Iranian nuclear development.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory missiles toward Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East. Ironically, this bloody escalation occurred amid ongoing nuclear talks in Geneva moderated by Oman.

Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, stressed that Tehran rejects all forms of negotiations with the United States.

Boroujerdi also stated that Iran has safeguarded the security of the Hormuz Strait for hundreds of years.

Special envoy to US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, claimed that Iran possesses 460 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% or enough to make 11 nuclear bombs.

The third round of US-Iran nuclear negotiations in Geneva ended without an agreement. Iran rejected dismantling the Fordow and Natanz facilities amid US naval threats.

The US demands Iran to dismantle Fordow, Natanz, Isfahan facilities and hand over 10,000 kg of uranium in a permanent negotiation in Geneva. See the terms of the agreement.
