US President Donald Trump has received a 10-point proposal from Iran as a basis for negotiations to end the war. One of the points demands that the US withdraw its combat troops.

Quoted by detikNews from Iranian media Tasnim News Agency and BBC, on Wednesday (8/4/2026), via his personal social media, Trump stated that the 10 points could be used as a foundation for negotiations.

“We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran and I am confident this can become a reliable basis for negotiations,” Trump said.

Iran’s proposal includes the withdrawal of US military forces from the region, the lifting of economic sanctions against Iran, payment of compensation for war damages, and allowing Iran to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The details of Iran’s 10-point proposal are as follows:

  1. The US must commit, in principle, to guaranteeing non-aggression

  2. Iran’s sustainable control over the Strait of Hormuz

  3. Iran’s right to uranium enrichment must be recognised

  4. Lifting of all major sanctions

  5. Lifting of all secondary sanctions

  6. Ending all UN Security Council resolutions

  7. Ending all IAEA Board of Governors resolutions

  8. Payment of compensation for damages inflicted on Iran

  9. Withdrawal of US combat troops from the region

  10. Cessation of war on all fronts, including against the heroic Islamic resistance in Lebanon.

Trump Delays Attack on Iran

For information, Trump has already suspended an attack on Iran for two weeks on the condition that Iran must open the Strait of Hormuz. The US has also received a proposal from Iran regarding a peace agreement.

“The reason for doing this is that we have met and even exceeded all military objectives, and we are very close to achieving a definitive agreement on long-term peace with Iran, and peace in the Middle East. We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and believe that it is an executable basis for negotiation,” Trump’s statement posted on the White House X account.

According to him, almost all points of past disagreement have been agreed upon by the US and Iran. Trump is confident that a full agreement will be completed within two weeks.
