Iranian President Warns US Against Launching Attacks from Gulf State Bases
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned the United States not to launch attacks on Iran from military bases in neighbouring Gulf states.
Pezeshkian emphasised that any attack on Iran from US military bases in neighbouring Gulf countries “is unacceptable under any circumstances”.
The statement was made during a telephone conversation with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, according to Anadolu Agency on Friday (13 March 2026). In the telephone call, both leaders discussed developments in the regional situation as conflict continues between Iran against the US and Israel.
Pezeshkian stated that Iran values the relationships it has developed with neighbouring countries. However, he also warned against any attacks targeting Iranian territory originating from US military bases in those neighbouring countries.
“Any attack on Iran launched from US military bases located in the territory of regional countries is unacceptable under any circumstances,” Pezeshkian stated firmly.
The situation in the Middle East has intensified since the US and Israel launched a large-scale joint attack on Iran on 28 February. The series of attacks killed senior leaders and high-ranking officials in Tehran, including the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks against targets in Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
In the telephone conversation, Pezeshkian also commented on reports of an incident at Salalah Port in Oman. He affirmed that Iranian military operations only targeted areas directly involved in attacks on its territory.
Pezeshkian added: “A comprehensive investigation will certainly be conducted regarding this incident.”
