Iranian President Responds to Trump's UN Speech: We Will Not Bow Down
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that his country will not submit to any party. Pezeshkian emphasised that the resistance of the Iranian people will grow stronger in the face of intimidation from other nations.
These remarks were made by Pezeshkian during a speech at the UN in New York on Wednesday (23/09/2026). The statement follows a day after US President Donald Trump boasted that he would destroy Iran during his address at the same forum.
“(US President Donald Trump) must know that the resistance of the Iranian people will actually strengthen in the face of sanctions, increased pressure, and rising intimidation. We will never bow our heads or bend our knees,” said Peziente, as reported by AFP and CNN.
Pezeshkian also touched upon the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that his administration would not allow other nations to use that route to attack Iran.
“We cannot allow certain parties to have free access and take advantage of those waters, while at the same time using them to launch aggression against us, creating insecurity for us, and obstructing our access to our own waters,” he said.
“They are blocking our access to our own waters,” added Pezeshkian.
However, Pezeshkian admitted that Iran remains open to establishing cooperation to achieve security in the region. “Iran does not view its neighbouring countries as rivals in terms of security,” he added.
As previously reported, Trump stated that he must make a major decision regarding Iran. He described it as a choice between reaching a deal or destroying the nation.
“Will a deal be reached with Iran that allows them to rise again and build a nation far greater than before—perhaps one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world?” Trump asked, according to CNN.
“Or should I quickly destroy the Islamic Republic, without ever giving them the chance to kill and destroy people and nations again?” Trump further questioned.
These remarks were delivered by Trump during his speech before the UN General Assembly. Trump also threatened to cast Iran into hell without any chance of survival.
