Iranian President Firmly Rejects Imposing Demands Through Force
Tehran (ANTARA) – Tehran will not accept attempts by other countries to impose their will and demands on other nations through force and pressure, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said during a meeting with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Tehran on Monday (19 October).
Referring to attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, Pezeshkian said the killing of Iranian leaders, military commanders, nuclear scientists and students, as well as attacks on infrastructure, violated all legal and moral standards, particularly as Tehran was still negotiating with Washington.
Iran has no fundamental disputes with other countries in West Asia and is ready to resolve various issues and challenges through dialogue, Pezeshkian said, according to a statement published on his office’s website.
Lavrov, meanwhile, highlighted the alignment between Russia and Iran on various global issues, stressing the need to continue diplomatic talks and use existing capabilities to strengthen peace and security, the statement said.
Lavrov arrived in Tehran earlier that day. Iran and Russia, both subject to US sanctions, have expanded their political and economic ties in recent years to counter US restrictions.
