Iranian Parliament warns US of "heavier" response to "aggression"
Tehran (ANTARA) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said the United States must understand that any aggression against his country’s interests and security will be met with a faster, harsher and more painful response.
According to ICANA, the Iranian parliament’s news agency, Qalibaf made the remarks during an open session of the legislature in Tehran, stressing that the era of proportionate responses has ended.
“The Americans must surely have understood that the era of proportionate responses has ended. Our attacks on the aggressor’s bases in the recent series of operations were only the beginning,” Qalibaf said on Sunday.
“The rules of the game have changed, and from now on, any aggression against Iran’s interests and security will be met with a faster, heavier and more painful response,” he said.
Tensions between Tehran and Washington have risen recently after the US launched attacks on several areas in southern Iran, and Iran carried out retaliatory strikes on regional US bases.
The series of attacks was followed by a maritime confrontation between the two sides on Saturday (5/9).
