Iranian Parliament: US Attack Will Cause Setback and Regret

A senior Iranian member of parliament said on Saturday that US attacks on Iran during negotiations demonstrate Washington’s lack of commitment to diplomacy and a ceasefire agreement. Ibrahim Azizi, head of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said the US ‘once again attacked Iran in the midst of negotiations.’ ‘The stammering US president has shown that he has no commitment to the principles of negotiation or ceasefire,’ Azizi said. He said the ‘reckless violation’ of the ceasefire will, ‘as usual, cause setback and regret’ for the US. ‘The blame game is no longer effective,’ he added. The statement came hours after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval forces targeted US military positions across the region in response to US strikes in southern Iran. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Friday evening (26/6) that US forces struck Iranian missile, drone, and radar sites after accusing Tehran of being behind attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
