Iranian Parliament Demands Cancellation of MoU with US

Teheran - A total of 180 members of the Iranian parliament have urged the country’s leaders to announce the cancellation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States, Fars News Agency reported. Hundreds of Iranian MPs issued a statement calling for retaliatory actions, the cancellation of the memorandum with the US, the formation of a special commission to investigate negotiations with the US, the enactment of a law concerning the management of the Strait of Hormuz, and comprehensive support for the Iranian armed forces, the news agency reported on Tuesday. On 18 June, the US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to halt a conflict that began on 28 February. However, on 8 July, US forces launched airstrikes against Iran. US Central Command stated the strikes were a response to Iranian actions against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian forces retaliated by launching attacks on US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
