Iranian Oil Minister Resigns
Tehran (ANTARA) - Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has resigned from his post, as announced by an aide to the Iranian President on Sunday (4/10).
In a post on the social media platform X, Seyyed Mehdi Tabatabaei, the Deputy of Communications in the Iranian President’s office, stated that Paknejad’s resignation has been accepted by President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Speaking to Iran’s state television, IRIB, on Sunday, Tabatabaei said that Paknejad had previously submitted his resignation for personal reasons; while Pezeshkian initially rejected the submission, he has since accepted it.
He added that the Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of the National Iranian Oil Company, Hamid Bovard, has been appointed as the acting oil minister through a decree issued by Pezeshkian.
Paknejad was previously appointed as Iran’s Oil Minister in August 2024 after winning a vote of confidence in parliament.
