A conservative Iranian newspaper known for its provocative tone has published a list of people it says will be targets for retaliation over the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The list includes leaders from the United States, Israel, and European nations.

A joint US-Israeli strike killed Khamenei on 28 February, the first day of the Middle East war. His son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, has vowed revenge.

“Revenge is the will of our nation and must be carried out,” Mojtaba said on Saturday in his first message since his father’s funeral this week.

“These criminals, whose names are on the list, will take to their graves the wish to die peacefully in their beds,” Mojtaba added, according to AFP news agency on Monday.

The newspaper Hamshahri, published by the municipality in the capital Tehran, released an infographic on Saturday night featuring photos of 13 foreign leaders alongside Mojtaba’s statement.

In his message, Mojtaba said Iran had compiled a list of individuals to be targeted. However, he did not name names, and there was no indication that the list published in the newspaper was officially endorsed.

The infographic included US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, among others. The graphic did not appear in the newspaper’s Sunday print edition.

Also included on the list were US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

During the war, Iran has accused European countries of failing to condemn attacks on its territory and of being complicit by allowing US military aircraft to fly through their airspace.
