Iranian Missiles Strike US Military Bases in Saudi Arabia, Explosions Heard in Riyadh

Explosions were reported in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, on Saturday, 28 February 2026, according to AFP news agency. The explosions are understood to be part of Iran’s retaliatory military operation targeting US military bases across the Middle East.

Based on media reports, explosions occurred in countries hosting US military installations. According to Al Jazeera, explosions were heard in Kuwait and Bahrain.

Bahrain has confirmed that the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet has been targeted by Iranian missile strikes. Reuters also reported that smoke was visible from the Juffair area in Bahrain, which is the location of the US Naval Base.

Al Jazeera Arabic reported that explosions were also heard in Kuwait. Explosions were likewise heard in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Iran’s Fars news agency confirmed that Tehran had targeted several strategic US military installations in the region. Locations struck by missiles included Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
