Iranian missiles struck US military installations across the Middle East on Saturday 28 February 2026, marking a significant escalation of regional conflict. The Government of Bahrain confirmed that the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet became a target of Iranian missile attacks.
According to reports from Al Jazeera, the strikes occurred nearly simultaneously with combined US-Israeli military operations against Iranian territory.
Bahraini authorities confirmed that missiles struck the strategic military facility, though they have not yet released details regarding casualties or damage to the facility.
The Fifth Fleet, headquartered in Bahrain, is a vital US command responsible for maritime security in the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
Meanwhile, Iran’s news agency FARS confirmed that Tehran had targeted several strategic US military installations across the region.
Locations struck by missiles included Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.
The situation intensified following reports from the AFP news agency of a series of explosions in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
In Qatar, the US Embassy has instructed all personnel and citizens to remain in protected locations (shelter-in-place).
