Iranian Missile Fragments Ignite Fires in Israeli Cities
Iranian missile fragments intercepted in the air have triggered multiple fires in several cities across central Israel. Teheran continues to attack targets across Israeli territory in retaliation for strikes launched by Tel Aviv in coordination with the United States since 28 February.
Local Israeli television network Channel 12 reported on Monday 16 March 2026 that rescue teams have been deployed to multiple areas, including Holon, Rishon Lezion, and Bnei Brak, which have been affected by fires caused by Iranian missile fragments.
The majority of Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted in the air, though according to local Israeli media reports on Sunday 15 March, several missile fragments fell across central Israeli territory.
Israeli emergency medical services, Magen David Adom, stated via social media that initial reports indicate no casualties from the Iranian missile fragments.
On Sunday 15 March local time, the Israeli military reported that its forces detected the launch of multiple missiles from Iranian territory, with air defence systems attempting to intercept the projectiles.
Regional escalation has intensified since the United States and Israel launched a large-scale joint strike against Iran on 28 February.
According to data from Teheran authorities, at least 1,300 people have been killed and more than 10,000 others injured as a result of the series of attacks.
Iran has responded with waves of missile and drone attacks against targets across Israel and Gulf nations that host US military assets.
Teheran’s attacks have caused destruction and casualties in several Gulf states, further expanding the conflict.
