Iran’s military stated it would target banks and economic centres belonging to the United States and Israel in the Middle East. The statement was made following an air strike on a bank in Tehran on Tuesday evening (10 March).

According to Middle East Eye on Wednesday (11 March), a spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the central command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), warned residents in the region to avoid American and Israeli banking facilities that could become targets of attacks.

“Last night, the terrorist American and Zionist forces, after failing to achieve their military objectives, targeted one of our country’s banks,” the spokesman said.

“People in the region should not be within a one-kilometre radius of these banks,” the spokesman added.

Previously, Iran’s banking facilities came under attack. According to Mehr News Agency, the air strike on a Tehran bank struck an administrative building linked to Bank Sepah, one of Iran’s largest state-owned banks. The strike reportedly killed several employees, though the exact casualty toll has not been announced.

The IRGC separately stated it would launch a major missile attack against Israel. According to the IRGC, this would be the largest attack since the conflict began on 28 February.

“The war will not stop until the threat is eliminated or the enemy surrenders completely,” the IRGC stated.

In Israel, national emergency services reported 29 people injured from panic as residents fled when Iranian attacks occurred on Tuesday evening.

Regional tensions extended to Gulf nations. Two drones were reported shot down near Dubai airport in the United Arab Emirates, injuring four people.

Drone attacks also occurred in several regional countries. Eight drones were reported shot down over Kuwait, whilst two drones headed towards Saudi Arabia’s Shaybah Oil Field in the east were intercepted. A missile attack was reportedly prevented in Qatar.

In Iraq, a drone struck a US diplomatic facility near Baghdad airport. According to reports, six drones were launched at the diplomatic support centre near an Iraqi military base. One drone hit the facility whilst five others were intercepted before reaching their target.
