Iranian Military Officer: US Demands Total Surrender, But We Refuse! War is Unavoidable
A senior Iranian military officer stated on Tuesday that the resumption of hostilities with the United States is unavoidable, as negotiations between Tehran and Washington appear to have reached a standstill.
“The United States demands our total surrender, and the Iranian nation will never surrender,” said Mohammad Jafar Assadi, deputy head of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military command. “Without surrender, war is unavoidable.”
US negotiations, mediated by Pakistan, have hit a deadlock. The US is demanding the destruction of all Iranian uranium enrichment facilities, a demand Tehran has rejected. Iran maintains that its nuclear programme is intended solely for energy purposes and not for weapons development.
Tehran has yet to respond to a final deal proposal with the United States aimed at ending the conflict between the two nations. “Discussions regarding the final text continue in Tehran,” a source close to the Iranian negotiating team told Mehr News on Tuesday.
The source noted that Iran is reviewing the proposal with great care, citing what it perceives as a history of US non-compliance and long-standing mistrust. “Based on previous experience, Iran is seeking real and concrete benefits,” the source added.
