Iranian Military Launches Drone Strike on US Base in Bahrain
Teheran (ANTARA) - The Iranian military has announced it launched an attack using Arash drones against a site housing US military helicopters and P-8 maritime patrol aircraft at Sakhir Air Base in Bahrain. The announcement was reported by RIA Novosti on Friday, citing Iranian state broadcaster IRIB. Tehran and Washington had signed a memorandum of understanding on the night of 18 June aimed at ending the conflict that began on 28 February. However, since 8 July, the US military has launched several strikes against Iran. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated the strikes were a response to Iranian actions against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, the Iranian military launched attacks on US military bases in several Middle Eastern countries. Tehran has also accused Washington of violating the ceasefire agreement. Subsequently, on 9 July, US President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire was no longer in effect.
