Iranian Media Report: IRGC Weighs Attack on Three Vital Oil Infrastructures in Saudi Arabia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHRAN – Tasnim News Agency reported on Tuesday (21/4/2026) that Iran is considering a coordinated attack targeting important global energy infrastructure, a scenario that, if it occurs, could disrupt up to 32% of global oil supplies. According to the report, the attack targets include the Yanbu pipeline network in Saudi Arabia, the Fujairah oil refining facility in the United Arab Emirates, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which could be closed by Houthi militant groups.

These three targets are believed to be vital infrastructure for the global energy system. The Bab al-Mandab Strait itself is a passage for around 6 million barrels of oil per day, while Fujairah is one of the world’s key oil business connection infrastructures.

As for the Yanbu pipeline network, it is described as an artery connecting Saudi Arabia’s oil fields to the Red Sea. However, Tasnim’s report has not been confirmed by Iranian authorities or other independent sources.
