Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni did not convey any new message regarding the Iran-US conflict during his visit to Islamabad, a spokesperson for Iran’s Interior Ministry said on Wednesday. Spokesperson Ali Zeinivand stated that Momeni did not carry a formal or new message, adding that the enemy has violated the memorandum and must comply with it. Zeinivand noted that while Iran and the United States are not currently engaged in negotiations, the possibility of exchanging messages between the two parties is not ruled out. He added that the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the competent authority to comment on the issue. Momeni visited Pakistan this week and met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir. Pakistan has previously acted as a mediator between Tehran and Washington. Since 8 July, US forces have launched several rounds of strikes against Iran, with CENTCOM stating the actions were in response to Iranian actions against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, Iran launched attacks on several US military bases in the Middle East. On 9 July, US President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire with Iran was no longer in effect.
