Moscow (ANTARA) - The negotiations between Iran and the United States (US), mediated by Pakistan following the two countries’ agreement on a recent ceasefire, have become the longest this year, with a total duration of 24 to 25 hours, according to Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, on Sunday (12/4). “That round of negotiations was the longest this year and lasted a total of 24-25 hours,” Baghaei said, as quoted by the Mehr news agency. He also conveyed that Iran believes communication with Pakistan and other regional allies will continue after the talks with the US in Islamabad, Pakistan. Iran and the US held discussions in Islamabad after US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire agreement with Tehran on Wednesday (8/4) evening. The negotiations began on Saturday (11/4) and continued overnight until Sunday morning. The head of the US delegation, Vice President J.D. Vance, stated on Sunday that Iran and the US failed to reach an agreement in the lengthy negotiations, emphasising that the US delegation would return to its country without bringing any agreement results.
