Tehran – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated on Monday (9 March) that the country has “many surprises prepared” for the United States.

He made the statement in a post on the social media platform X, highlighting Iran’s readiness to confront any US “plots”.

Araghchi mocked the codename “Operation Epic Fury” chosen by the US for the ongoing anti-Iran military campaign, renaming it “Operation Epic Mistake”, and claimed that nine days after the operation began, “oil prices had doubled whilst all commodities surged sharply”.

“We know the US is planning attacks on our oil and nuclear sites in hopes of containing massive inflationary shocks,” he said.

“Iran is fully prepared. And we also have many surprises that have been prepared,” Araghchi added.

On 28 February, Israel and the United States launched a combined assault on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with senior military commanders and civilians.

Iran subsequently retaliated by launching waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli and US military bases across the Middle East.

The conflict has created wider regional repercussions, generating concerns about disruptions to oil exports and global energy markets, particularly owing to risks associated with vessel movements through the Strait of Hormuz.
