Iranian Embassy: US and Israel Violate UN Charter with Attack on Tehran
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia has stated that the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel have launched attacks against civilian locations and vital infrastructure in Tehran and several other cities. The Iranian Embassy asserted that the US and Israel have violated the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“The attacks by the US and the Zionist regime of Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran constitute a violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the UN Charter and represent an act of open aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” stated the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta in its official statement on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
The Iranian Embassy stated that responding to such aggression is a legitimate and lawful right of the Islamic Republic of Iran based on Article 51 of the UN Charter. The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will exercise this right fully in order to preserve the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran by delivering a firm and strong response to the aggression of the Zionist regime of Israel and the US.
“As a founding member of the UN whose primary objective is to prevent aggression, breaches of peace, and threats to international peace, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasises the responsibility of the UN Security Council to take immediate action in addressing violations of international peace and security resulting from open aggression by the Zionist regime against Iran,” the Embassy stated.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has called upon the Chair and members of the UN Security Council to take action on this matter.
The Iranian Embassy in Indonesia, citing numerous serious violations of the UN Charter, international law, human rights, and international humanitarian law committed by the US and the Zionist regime over recent decades, firmly condemns these aggressive and criminal actions against Iran’s territorial integrity.
Iran regards the actions of Washington and Tel Aviv as a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.
The Iranian Embassy in Indonesia hopes that the Indonesian Government and people, political leaders, religious and Islamic organisations, academics, and media professionals will firmly and openly condemn the outbreak of war and aggression against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
