Iranian Embassy: Iran Remains Committed to Safeguarding Friendly Relations in the Middle East
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta has stated that Iran remains committed to safeguarding and continuing friendly relations with countries in the Middle Eastern region.
Iran remains committed to preserving and continuing friendly relations with nations in the region based on the principles of mutual respect, good neighbouring relations, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country, according to a press statement from the Iranian Embassy in Jakarta on Monday.
Iran reiterated that its defensive operations against US military bases and installations in the region should not be viewed as hostility towards regional countries.
Regional countries are certainly aware that the presence of American military bases in their territories has not only failed to contribute to regional security, but has instead been used to support the Zionist regime that kills children and furthers American aggression.
The statement noted that Iran’s defensive operations were aimed at targets and facilities that serve as the source and starting point of aggressive actions against the Iranian people, or that function to support such objectives.
The embassy also conveyed that owing to repeated US betrayals in the negotiation process with Iran, there is no longer trust on Iran’s part to continue diplomacy with that country.
Iran views these US actions as the third instance of US betrayal of diplomacy and negotiations with Iran. First was the unilateral US withdrawal (during the Trump administration) from the JCPOA in 2018.
Second was the attack on Iran in June 2025 amid ongoing negotiations with the US (before the sixth round of negotiations), and third was the attack on Iran on 28 February following the second round of negotiations with the US.
Iran remains committed to sustainable peace in the region; however, in defending national honour and sovereignty, Iran will never hesitate. The Iranian Embassy once again condemned US and Zionist Israeli aggression and crimes against Iran’s territorial integrity.
