Iranian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur: Tehran Does Not Forget Its Friends
Moscow (ANTARA) - The Iranian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has emphasised that Tehran does not forget friendly nations, as evidenced by the permission granted to a Malaysian vessel to cross the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since the outbreak of US-Israel military aggression against Iran in late February.
“We want to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not forget its friends. The first Malaysian vessel has passed through the Strait of Hormuz,” the embassy stated on X on Monday.
Previously, Bloomberg reported that the number of vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz has reached the highest level since the escalation in the Middle East due to that US-Israel aggression against Iran.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel attacked several targets in Iran, including the city of Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties.
Iran retaliated by striking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
This effectively halted shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, which is the main route for oil and liquefied natural gas supplies from the Persian Gulf to global markets.
Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, stated that Iran and Oman are discussing mechanisms to regulate shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
He said that Tehran is facilitating vessel traffic from non-hostile countries to cross the strait but will not permit vessels associated or affiliated with the US or Israel to use the route.
