Iranian Embassy in Indonesia Condemns US-Israel Attack on Tehran, Calls for UN Security Council Action
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia has strongly condemned attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Tehran and several other cities, targeting civilian locations and vital infrastructure. The Iranian Embassy views the strikes as a violation of Iran’s sovereignty.
“The United States and the Zionist regime of Israel, on Saturday morning, 28 February 2026, in another act of aggression, have attacked civilian locations and vital infrastructure in Tehran and several other cities, thereby violating the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the Iranian Embassy stated on Saturday (28/2/2026).
The Iranian Embassy characterised the action as a form of aggression violating international law and the Charter of the United Nations, specifically Article 2, paragraph 4. Iran emphasised its right to self-defence in accordance with international law provisions.
“The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will exercise this right fully in order to maintain the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran by delivering a firm and strong response to the aggression of the Zionist regime and the United States,” it stated.
Iran has also urged the UN Security Council to take immediate measures to respond to the situation. As a founding member of the United Nations, Iran believes the body has a responsibility to maintain international peace and security.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms the responsibility of the UN Security Council to take immediate action in addressing violations of international peace and security resulting from the blatant aggression of the Zionist regime against Iran. The Islamic Republic of Iran calls upon the Chair and members of the Security Council to take steps in this regard,” it said.
Furthermore, the Iranian Embassy in Indonesia also condemned what it described as repeated violations of international law by the United States and Israel over several decades. These actions are viewed as a serious threat to regional stability and global security.
“In strongly condemning such aggressive and criminal acts against Iran’s territorial integrity, and viewing the actions of Washington and Tel Aviv as a serious threat to regional and international peace and security,” the statement read.
The Iranian Embassy also expressed hope that the Indonesian government and people would join in condemning the attacks.
“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia hopes that the Government and people of Indonesia, political leaders, religious and Islamic organisations, academics, and media personnel will firmly and openly condemn the outbreak of war and aggression against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” it said.
Earlier, Israel launched airstrikes against Iranian territory on Saturday (28/2) local time. Two explosion sounds were reported in the Tehran area, the Iranian capital, on Saturday (28/2) morning local time.
Two loud explosions followed by thick plumes of smoke were observed in the sky over central and eastern Tehran on Saturday (28/2) morning, according to AFP. Iran’s news agency, Fars, reported that the explosions were triggered by missile strikes.
“The type of explosions indicates that these were missile attacks,” Fars news agency stated, without providing further details.
