Iranian Embassy Holds Joint Prayer to Remember Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta held a joint prayer and petition signing as a show of solidarity, humanitarian concern, and commitment to international justice in relation to the military attacks by the United States and Israel against the country. During the event at his residence in Menteng, Jakarta, Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi recalled the figure of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader who died in the attacks. He said Khamenei was a figure who throughout his life thought only of Muslim unity and unity among them. “Today we mourn the loss of a great leader who never compromised with his enemies, who always opposed coercive power and genocide, and who condemned killings wherever they occur,” he said at the event. He condemned the actions of the US and Israel that inflamed conflict in Iran by alleging the country was developing nuclear weapons, which, he added, have never been proven. He also condemned a bombing of a school in Iran that killed hundreds. Two main targets at the onset of the attack were the office of the Leader of the Islamic Republic and a girls’ primary school in Minab, where more than 165 children lost their lives. Boroujerdi specifically thanked Indonesia, including President Prabowo Subianto, for expressing sympathy over the developments in Iran. “We have also received an official condolence letter from Mr Prabowo Subianto to the President of Iran regarding the events,” he added. Many academics, scholars, teachers, from entrepreneurs, representatives from civil society organisations, ulama, and various figures conveyed their solidarity and condolences.
