Drone attack originating from Iran targeted a building near the United States Consulate in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The incident briefly sparked a fire.

According to The Guardian, the incident occurred on Tuesday night Dubai time (3 March 2026). Dubai media offices said authorities had extinguished the blaze and there were no injuries reported.

‘Dubai authorities have confirmed that the fire caused by the drone-related incident near the U.S. Consulate has been brought under control,’ the Dubai media office wrote. ‘Dubai authorities reiterate their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of everyone,’ they added.

An American official and the Dubai government media office provided further details to the Wall Street Journal, telling the outlet that a drone struck the consulate’s parking area in Dubai.

Video footage circulating on social media showed dark smoke billowing near the consulate. Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB reported that an Iranian drone had hit the U.S. consulate in Dubai.

The incident occurred alongside an attack by two drones on the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia on Monday (2 March). The U.S. Embassy has urged Americans in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dhahran to take shelter in their respective locations.

A day later, the U.S. embassy in Kuwait also announced the closure of its offices and services until further notice.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. State Department was assisting Americans in the Middle East to depart the region. ‘We have identified and continue to identify charter flights, military airlift options, and expanded commercial flight options, which means working with airlines to deploy larger aircraft with more seats,’ Rubio told reporters in Washington DC.
