Iranian Drone Attack Triggers Fire at Kuwaiti Oil Refinery

A wave of drone and missile attacks has intensified tensions in the Gulf region. A major oil refinery in Kuwait was reported to be on fire following an aerial attack on Friday local time.

Kuwaiti state media stated that the Mina Al-Ahmadi facility was targeted by several drone strikes that sparked the blaze. Although no casualties were reported, several refinery units were temporarily halted while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

The attack occurred amid an escalation in conflict involving Iran and Gulf states. In recent days, Tehran has ramped up assaults on energy infrastructure, including refineries and the world’s largest gas centres in Qatar. These actions are described as retaliation for Israel’s strikes on the South Pars gas field.

In Bahrain, the interior ministry reported that debris from Iranian attacks caused a fire in a warehouse. The incident was brought under control without casualties.

Kuwait’s military stated that their air defence systems were actively responding to missile and drone threats. A similar situation was reported in the United Arab Emirates, which confirmed aerial threats from Iran.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed to have targeted US forces at the Al-Dhafra airbase in the UAE, as well as several locations in Israel, using missiles and drones.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia reported successfully intercepting more than a dozen drones in its eastern region and one more in the north over about two hours. (AFP)
