Iranian Delegation Postpones Trip to Islamabad Due to Israel's Attack on Lebanon

Tehran (ANTARA) - The Iranian delegation has repeatedly postponed their trip to Islamabad (Pakistan) for talks with the United States due to Israel’s attack on Lebanon, Iranian broadcaster Press TV reported on Friday, citing a source. On the same day, US Vice President JD Vance said the US delegation is heading to the negotiations with “quite clear guidelines” from US President Donald Trump. However, there is no information yet regarding the Iranian delegation’s visit. Specifically, Iran warned that the Israeli attack could undermine the course of the negotiations, the source said to the broadcaster. On Tuesday evening, President Trump said he had agreed to a bilateral two-week ceasefire with Iran, and stated that Iran also agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council then stated that Tehran would begin talks with the US on Friday in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. Trump said the cessation of Israel’s attacks on Lebanon was not included in the agreement with Iran, due to Hezbollah’s involvement. However, Iran considers it a violation of the ceasefire reached between the US and Iran. Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the implementation of negotiations to end the US-Iran conflict depends on commitment to ceasefire obligations by all parties.
