Iranian Ballistic Missile Strikes the United States' Largest Military Base in Qatar

Iran has again attacked United States military bases in the Gulf region. This time, Iran fired two ballistic missiles at the United States’ largest military base in Qatar, Al-Udeid, on Tuesday night. DetikNews reported on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, that Qatar’s Ministry of Defence, citing statements reported by AFP and the Anadolu Agency, said the missiles were launched from Iranian territory on Tuesday night local time. One missile was reportedly intercepted, while the other struck the Al-Udeid complex. There were no reported casualties from the attack. ‘The air defence system managed to intercept one of the missiles, while the second missile struck the Al-Udeid base in Qatar, with no casualties,’ the Qatari Defence Ministry said. Qatari authorities did not provide details of any damage to the Al-Udeid complex. Al-Udeid Air Base, located in the desert area outside Doha, is the forward headquarters for United States Central Command (CENTCOM). Covering about 24 hectares, Al-Udeid is the largest US military base in the Middle East, hosting around 10,000 troops. The Defence Ministry emphasised that the Qatari armed forces maintain full capability to defend the sovereignty and territory of the country and stand ready to respond decisively to any external threat.
