Iranian Ambassador: Zionists Oppose All Religions, Including Judaism
JAKARTA — The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, emphasised that Iran has never been the party to initiate armed conflicts. If one examines history over the past few hundred years, he said, Iran has no record as a country that started wars.
“If we look at history, in the past few hundred years, Iran has never initiated war. On the contrary, the Zionist regime, which is only decades old, has initiated many wars,” he said during a meeting with several Islamic figures in the Pondok Labu area, South Jakarta, on Friday (3/4/2026).
According to him, during that period, Israel has been involved in and initiated around 20 major wars. He also accused the Zionist regime of being repressive towards various religious groups.
“The Zionist regime opposes all religions. They oppose Islam, Christianity, and even non-Zionist Jews. Muslims are not allowed to worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Christians also face restrictions in churches, and even non-Zionist Jews are not fully free,” he said.
In contrast, Boroujerdi cited the situation in Iran, which provides space for minority groups, including the Jewish community. He said that the Jewish community in Iran remains extant and even has representation in parliament despite its small numbers.
“In Iran itself, for the Jewish community, whose numbers compared to Muslims are non-existent, non-existent, very small indeed, they are given the freedom to have representation in parliament,” he said.
He also touched on the escalation of conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran. He called on Muslims to take a firm stance in responding to that conflict. “We will be asked by future generations, on which side were we? Defending America and Israel, or supporting Iran?” he said.
