JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, has urged Muslims across various sects to unite in opposing the war launched by the Israel-US coalition.

He stated that Israel is attempting to divide the unity of Sunnis and Shias amid the ongoing Iran-US-Israel conflict.

“The issue at hand is not about Sunni and Shia, or Hanafi, Hanbali, Shafi’i, and other schools of thought. Rather, it concerns the dignity of the Muslim ummah and the dignity of Islam,” said Ambassador Boroujerdi in the Pondok Labu area of South Jakarta on Friday (3/4/2026).

Boroujerdi assessed that the Zionist regime has long planned the division of the Muslim ummah.

“They have plotted opposition to Islam and planned to wage war against Islam for 1400 years,” he said.

“Therefore, it is incumbent upon Muslims to unite so that they can collectively face the attacks and wars launched by the Zionists together with the United States,” Boroujerdi added.

In response to the differences often highlighted, Boroujerdi pointed out that Israel does not recognise sects when attacking Iran.

“When these Israeli missiles are dropped, they do not choose between Sunni and Shia; everyone is hit,” he said.

Boroujerdi then quoted Surah Ali Imran verse 103, which depicts a crucial moment when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was accompanied by key companions such as Ali bin Abi Thalib, Umar bin Khattab, Uthman bin Affan, and others during wartime.

“Because it is a war situation like that, there should be no need to exaggerate differences in sects and religions. It is Israel that divides between religions,” he continued.
