REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, has requested that Muslims in Indonesia pray for Iran during Friday prayers amid rising tensions with the United States and Israel. This appeal was made by Boroujerdi while attending a meeting with several Islamic figures organised by Prof M Din Syamsuddin in the Pondok Labu area, South Jakarta, on Friday (3/4/2026). During the meeting, Boroujerdi appreciated the support provided by various Islamic community organisations (ormas) in Indonesia, including calls for the qunut nazilah prayer for Iran. “Islamic ormas institutions such as the Indonesian Ulema Council and others have even, without being asked, recommended the qunut nazilah prayer. We greatly appreciate that,” said Boroujerdi. He hopes that such support continues, particularly through the prayers offered by Muslims during Friday prayers. According to him, prayer serves as an important moral strength for Iran in facing pressures and attacks from what he described as powerful countries.
