Iranian Ambassador to JK: War Destroys Homes and Sacrifices Children

JAKARTA - The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Boroujerdi, revealed the impact of the war triggered by the United States and Israel on civilians in his country. The casualties are not only military but also civilians, including women and children. Iran records that currently, as many as 250 children have become victims. “We report that the oldest and most senior war victim in our country is 88 years old, while the youngest is an infant only 3 days old,” said Boroujerdi during a meeting with the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, at the PMI Central Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Boroujerdi stated that Iranian society is now threatened with being unable to celebrate Eid al-Fitr due to the prolonged war. “Although this is a situation during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr is approaching, the people of Iran cannot celebrate this important and Islamic moment,” he added. In response to the enthusiasm of Indonesian society to help those affected by the war, the Iranian Ambassador opened official donation channels that can be seen on their social media. One of them is through Instagram @iraninindonesia. In addition, Iran is also launching a campaign to emphasise efforts to stop the ongoing war. “On the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we will start a global campaign to say no to war,” he said. Closing his remarks, Boroujerdi expressed thanks for the government’s support in helping Iran in the current situation. “Happy Eid al-Fitr, please forgive my physical and spiritual shortcomings. Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,” Boroujerdi concluded.
