The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, visited Solo in Central Java on Wednesday (1 April 2026). There, he held a meeting and dialogue with the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“The two sides exchanged views on regional developments, the current situation arising from the war imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the humanitarian and economic impacts it has caused,” stated the Iranian Embassy.

“Mr Joko Widodo conveyed his sympathy to the people of Iran, and expressed his and the Indonesian people’s support for the steadfastness and resistance of the government and people of Iran in defending their national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security,” it added.

“He also expressed hopes for the health, victory, and prosperity of the Iranian people, and hoped that peace, stability, and tranquillity would soon return to the region.”

On that occasion, Boroujerdi also provided a comprehensive report on the current field conditions, including explanations of various attacks on civilian areas, vital infrastructure, and economic facilities in Iran, as well as concerns over the humanitarian and security impacts of those actions.

“He also affirmed the legitimate right of the Iranian people to defend themselves in accordance with international law,” the embassy’s statement continued.

There, both sides also reaffirmed the long-established and friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Indonesia, as well as the importance of continuing dialogue, strengthening bilateral cooperation, and expanding relations between the peoples of the two countries.
