Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, recently met with Indonesia’s fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri, seventh President Joko Widodo, and tenth and twelfth Vice President Jusuf Kalla. He revealed the reasons behind this series of meetings.

“There are many figures in Indonesia, both official officials and non-governmental officials or Indonesian leaders, who have conveyed messages to me in the form of condolences and concerns,” said Mohammad Boroujerdi to reporters in South Jakarta on Friday (3/4/2026).

“Therefore, as the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a representative of Iran, it is only fitting that I reciprocate by expressing thanks for the statements or remarks conveyed, and giving appreciation,” he added.

He stated that in these meetings, matters related to the impacts of the US-Iran war were also discussed.

“In addition, I also provided a kind of report on the events or the latest matters that occurred in my country’s region or country to the figures who previously conveyed their condolences to us,” he said.

Mohammad Boroujerdi conveyed that the anti-war campaign against Iran is an initial step to oppose warfare against other countries. These meetings also aimed to voice one thing, namely that anti-war campaign.

“Regarding visits to religious scholars, of course, we all know that Islamic institutions or organisations, both MUI and other institutions, have even issued recommendations for Qunut Nazilah. That means, without us asking, they directly joined in praying and supporting,” he revealed.
