Iranian Ambassador Receives Condolence Letter from Prabowo Over the Death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Jakarta – Mohammad Boroujerdi, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, has received a condolence letter from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto regarding the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Boroujerdi said the letter expressed condolences on the passing of Iran’s Supreme Leader in the attack on Iran by Israel and the United States on Saturday, 28 February 2026, and that he had received an official condolence letter from President Prabowo to Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, relating to the incident. The translator for Boroujerdi at the Iranian ambassador’s official residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, said the gesture was a message of solidarity for Iran. He apologised for not being able to reply to each message individually. ‘If the enemy possesses advanced weapons, we also have you all as the strength that sustains us,’ he added. ‘And secondly, to voice the truth and win the war of narratives through the various social media and media you possess,’ he said. The letter was delivered by Foreign Minister Sugiono to Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi during a meeting on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Sugiono posted about the encounter on X, the official account @Menlu_RI, the same day. ‘I also conveyed the letter from President @prabowo to President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing deepest condolences on the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran,’ Sugiono wrote in his post.
