Iranian Ambassador: Proud to Meet Prabowo After Encounters with SBY, Jokowi, and Megawati
Ambassador Boroujerdi is known to have held meetings with Indonesia’s sixth president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, seventh president Joko Widodo, and fifth president Megawati Soekarnoputri in recent times. These meetings were conducted to convey the current situation in Iran amid regional conflicts.
“It would be a great pride for me to meet the current President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Prabowo,” said Boroujerdi at Paramadina University, East Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2026).
Boroujerdi emphasised that, if given the opportunity to meet, his side would convey appreciation as well as the latest developments in Iran’s situation directly to Prabowo.
“If he grants us the opportunity, we would be very grateful,” he stated.
Boroujerdi explained that his series of meetings with Indonesian figures are not merely social visits but also carry a diplomatic mission, namely to report on Iran’s conditions while expressing thanks for the support provided.
He also noted that the meetings are held not only with political figures but also with religious leaders and cultural figures, as part of efforts to expand communication with various elements of Indonesian society.
“Not only political figures or former presidents, but I have also met various religious leaders, various political figures, and even cultural figures. The purpose of the visits and meetings is, first, to convey thanks for their support for the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he revealed.
“And second, to provide reports on the current conditions in Iran,” he added.
