Indonesia’s Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran appreciated President Prabowo Subianto’s readiness to mediate the conflict following attacks by the United States and Israel. However, Iran emphasised that there will be no negotiations with countries that have launched hostilities, such as the United States.

“Certainly Iran hopes friendly nations will provide support to our country. We naturally convey appreciation for the message and readiness conveyed by Indonesia,” said Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi at the Iranian Embassy’s official residence in Central Jakarta on Monday (2 March 2026).

“However, for us there is no negotiation with countries that have launched hostilities against us, namely the United States,” he added.

Boroujerdi expressed doubt that the United States would comply with agreements. He urged Islamic nations to strongly condemn attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran.

“Because what guarantee is there that the United States will comply with an agreement. We hope Islamic nations, if they view this attack as an illegal step, must strongly condemn the illegal attacks that have occurred,” he said.

He also urged Islamic nations to push the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations to provide support to Iran. Boroujerdi further hoped to campaign for an end to warfare.

“Thirdly, we hope a campaign is conducted by Islamic nations, a campaign to say no to warfare,” he explained.

Earlier, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern over the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran, which has led to military escalation in the Middle East region. The ministry stated that Indonesia deeply regretted the situation.

“Indonesia deeply regrets the failure of negotiations between the US and Iran, which has resulted in military escalation in the Middle East region,” read a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ X account on Saturday (28 February 2026).

“Indonesia calls on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy,” it added.

The ministry emphasised the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of every nation. Additionally, it stressed the importance of resolving differences through peaceful means.

“The Indonesian Government, in this case the President of the Republic of Indonesia, conveyed readiness to facilitate dialogue to create restored conditions of security that are conducive and, should both parties agree, the Indonesian President is willing to travel to Tehran to conduct mediation,” it stated.
