Iranian Ambassador Frank in Meeting Megawati-Jokowi, Turns Out Carrying This Mission

Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, has been candid about his series of meetings with several national figures in Indonesia. He stated that his visits to Indonesia’s 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri, 7th President Joko Widodo, and 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla were not merely courtesies but carried important messages amid the intensifying conflict. “Many figures in Indonesia, whether official officials or non-governmental officials or other figures in Indonesia, have conveyed messages to me in the form of expressions of condolences and concern,” said Mohammad Boroujerdi to reporters in South Jakarta on Friday (3/4/2026). “Therefore, as the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a representative of Iran, it is only fitting that I respond by conveying thanks for the expressions or statements made, as well as giving appreciation,” he added. Not only conveying thanks, Boroujerdi also brought the latest “report” on conditions in his country, including the impacts of the war between the United States and Iran, to the figures he met. “In addition, I also provided a kind of report regarding the events or the latest matters that occurred in the region or in my country to the figures who previously expressed their condolences to us,” he said. Carrying an Anti-War Campaign Mission Boroujerdi emphasised that the series of meetings also served as a gateway to voice an anti-war campaign. According to him, rejection of war in Iran is an initial step to oppose broader conflicts. “Regarding visits to religious scholars, of course, we all know that institutions or Islamic mass organisations, whether MUI or other institutions, have even issued recommendations for Qunut Nazilah. That means, without us asking, they directly joined in praying and supporting,” he revealed.
