The Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, has conveyed condolences over the deaths of three Indonesian soldiers who were part of the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon.

The three TNI members were killed in an Israeli attack in Lebanon on Sunday (29/3).

Boroujerdi delivered these condolences after paying a courtesy visit to Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at his private residence in Solo, Central Java.

“We convey our condolences over Israel’s heinous attack on the peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, which killed three Indonesian soldiers who were part of the peacekeeping contingent,” he stated on Wednesday (1/4).

During the meeting, Boroujerdi also brought a mission to campaign for peace in order to swiftly end the war in the Middle East. According to him, support from Jokowi is very important because the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka was very active in calling for international peace during his tenure, including in Palestine.

Moreover, Jokowi visited Iran in 2023, which was reciprocated by a visit from the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to Indonesia.

“Mr Jokowi conveyed solidarity and support for our country,” the Iranian Ambassador revealed.
