Iran will take all measures to protect sovereignty, citizens: envoy
NEW YORK — Iran will take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and citizens, declared Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
“We will take all necessary actions to defend our people, our territory, and our independence,” Iravani stated during a press conference on Tuesday.
He urged the international community to act immediately to halt what he characterised as a “bloody war” against Iranian citizens.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched a series of attacks against multiple targets within Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and loss of life among civilians. According to Iranian state television, the attacks also resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran subsequently responded to the attacks by launching missile strikes against Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
