Iran Warns US-Israel to Prepare for Firm Response
Iran has reaffirmed its intention to “respond firmly” following large-scale attacks by the United States and Israel against Iranian territory on Saturday, 28 February. Tehran stated there would be no “red lines” in its retaliation, warning Washington and Tel Aviv to prepare for the consequences.
“The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond firmly to the aggressors,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated, according to AFP on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry noted that Tehran had taken “all necessary measures to prevent war”. The US and Israeli strikes occurred whilst negotiations between Washington and Tehran regarding the nuclear programme have recently resumed.
“Just as we are prepared to negotiate, we are now more prepared than ever to defend the Iranian nation,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in its statement.
Separately, a senior unnamed Iranian official warned the US and Israel that there would be no “red lines” in Iran’s retaliation against the attacks by both countries.
“We clearly stated to Israel to prepare for what is coming,” the senior Iranian official told Al Jazeera, according to The Guardian. “Our response will be transparent, and there are no red lines… All American and Israeli assets and interests in the Middle East have become legitimate targets,” he asserted.
On Saturday, 28 February, the Israeli military detected numerous missiles launched from Iran towards Israeli territory, after Tel Aviv struck Tehran and several other regions. The Iranian missile strikes activated air raid warning sirens across several areas of Israel.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), the official name of Israel’s military, stated that air defence systems were deployed to intercept the missiles.
Meanwhile, a series of explosions rocked several Arab Gulf countries hosting US military bases on Saturday, 28 February. Reports from Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait all documented explosions following the US and Israeli strikes on Iran.
According to Iran’s news agency Fars, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had targeted US military bases in all four of these countries.
