Iran Warns US: If We Cannot Sell Oil, No One Else in the Region Will

Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who is also Tehran’s chief negotiator, has reiterated that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war status. In a stark warning to the United States, Ghalibaf declared that if Iran is blocked from selling its oil, no other country in the Middle East will be able to do so either. He further cautioned that no one in the region would be safe if Iran’s security is not assured. In a statement via social media platform X, Ghalibaf described the conflict as an ‘all or nothing’ situation. ‘In a region where we cannot sell oil, no other party will sell oil,’ he warned. He added that if Iran’s security is not guaranteed, ‘no infrastructure will remain safe, and the strait will only be safe if there is no American military presence.’ Ghalibaf’s remarks came hours after US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb infrastructure in Iran if the country continued to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has maintained that commercial vessels will remain safe if they coordinate with Iranian authorities under its new maritime regulations.
