The Iranian military has accused the United States of increasingly “escalating tensions” in the Middle East region. Tehran subsequently warned Middle Eastern nations against cooperating with Washington while the conflict continues to rage.

“The United States is rapidly moving towards an escalation of tensions in this region,” stated the head of Iran’s military central command, Ali Abdollahi, in his latest statement broadcast on state television, as reported by AFP on Saturday (1/8/2026).

“Any nation that becomes a defence shield for the criminal and aggressive America will be consumed by the flames of war,” Abdollahi warned.

These remarks were made after US President Donald Trump renewed his threats to strike Iran “very hard”. Trump also reaffirmed his determination to win the war against Iran, which commenced following joint US and Israeli attacks in late February.

Fighting between the two nations has flared up again following a brief suspension of attacks.

“We will hit Iran very hard and, you know, at some point they will say, ‘We really cannot take it anymore’,” the US President asserted in his latest threat.

The recent threat comes as prominent US media outlets, such as CBS News and the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), report that the US and Israel are preparing to launch the most intensive bombing operations targeting Iranian energy infrastructure, including power plants and oil refineries.

The joint attack is estimated to potentially occur this weekend.

Reports from US media indicate that Trump is still in the stage of considering a large-scale attack on Iran and has not yet given the green light. Nevertheless, the US and Israel are reported to be continuing their coordination.

If the attack plan is indeed executed, it would mark the first time Israel has attacked Iran since the initial ceasefire was implemented in April.
